Running off at the mouth on the Amazing Race

Season 29, Episode 3

Brazil/Tanzania: The plot thickens, or maybe it’s the plot clarifies.

Anyway, here’s what to watch for based on the first three episodes:

Trash talk. The team of Matt and Redmond will do anything or say
Redmond
anything to win. I mean they will cut ahead in line any chance they get, and they’re always taunting the female half of the team of Ashton and Vanck.

And boy is Ashton mad at them. Vanck is sort of mad, too, but he’s got a longer fuse.

Whatever, Redmond is tough, playing hard despite having lost half of a leg while serving as a medical corpsman in Afghanistan. He’s a motivational speaker, too. And he’s just cheerfully nasty. Gotta like him.

Junk talk: Shamir is still hurting. You remember he suffered some
Sara
serious testicular pain while rappelling in Episode 2. He’s still nursing his wounds and chatting about his wounds.

Sara, his race partner, is tired of his whining. “I think I’m getting tested for sure,” she said, eyes rolling.

Unlikely winners: Good heavens, the bearded Michael and his country cool gal pal Liz won again. They looked dreadful in Episode 1, but they aced Episode 2 and made short work of Episode 3, which took place in Tanzania.
Michael

They built furniture. “I come from a long line of carpenters,” Michael explained. He then did some slick open market shopping. “I know food,” he allowed.

Unlikely losers: For the second week in a row, a strong team – this time Olive, a firefighter, and Seth,  a cop – was eliminated. The means Bob and Sandy Wilcox are out of the pool.

Becca
Try to remember. The amazingly upbeat Floyd, everyone’s favorite Racer, misplaced his passport, temporarily endangering his team. The amazingly upbeat Becca, his race partner, was not amazingly amused. Look for cracks in Team Fun.

Overheard:

Brooke (of partner Scott): It’s not like we’ve been friends for years.

Redmond: There’s no drama in this team because we’re Team Man.

Shamir: Last night I was injured a bit.

Redmond: They’re really just a weak, pathetic team.

Shamir: I’m horrible at building things

Sara (after Shamir gets a splinter): No pain, no gain.

Ashton: You lied to our faces.

Redmond: I like Vanck; I just don’t like Ashton.

Order of finish

1)    Liz and Michael
2)    Tara and Joey
3)    Vanck and Ashton
4)    Matt and Redmond
5)    London and Logan
6)    Brooke and Scott

9)    Seth and Olive
