RATSTERS ROCK THE RACE

The Amazing Race, Episode Four, Season 21

Dhaka, Bangladesh – Play to your strengths.

James and Abba
That seemed to be this episode’s lesson as James and Abba, rock star and rock lawyer, successfully completed a Fast Forward that required them to collect dead rats.

“Our business is littered with rats,” explained Abba, who seemed right at home putting the rodents’ soggy bodies into a burlap bag.

For their efforts, the rockers got to skip all other challenges and proceed to the pit stop, where they were the first to arrive, as none of the other duos took the Fast Forward.

Other teams showed other strengths.

Rob of Rob and Kelley does body work on his monster trucks back home, so doing the same on a battered bus was child’s play for him.

Abbie of Abbie and Ryan had picked up some sewing skills at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and she had no trouble with the mattress stuffing and sewing challenge.

Aquadisiac
Similarly, Josh of Josh and Brent, put his mattress together by recalling  the days when he fashioned outfits for his drag queen alter ego, Aquadisiac.
.
And substitute teachers Gary and Will drew upon their vast knowledge of Amazing Race tactics and challenges and finished, well, last.

Phil looked the guys in the eyes and told them they were eliminated and thus ended their dream of winning the Amazing Race.

“We were representing the fans of the show,” Will said afterwards.

Gary and Will
Not all that well, it could be argued, as the self-described “Comeback Kids” had finished next to last in the two previous episodes.

This also eliminates Team Bushnell from the pool, ending a perfect downer of a weekend for Tom Bushnell who on Saturday saw the University of Buffalo’s football team lose in the rain and on Sunday eye witnessed the Bills lose by one in good weather. Life is not fair.

Highlights:

Natalie and Nadiya
The twins, Natalie and Nadiya, charmed (and possibly annoyed) with their cheering. They're increasingly seeing themselves as representing the women of the world, which isn't that far-fetched as they're the only all-female duo left.

Rob almost punched out a local, perhaps a sign of anger issues to come.

Jaymes of the Chippendales continues to be a wiseacre. Which is good.

Overheard:

Trey: Mistakes will kill you.

Will: I think we are the little engine that could.

Natasha: (to Natalie): Long, strong and hard.

Jaymes: Sounds like Friday night for me.

Will: We're in last place again.

Order of Finish:

James and Abba
Abbie and Ryan
Natalie and Nadiya
Josh and Brent
Rob and Kelley
Jaymes and James
Trey and Lexi
Gary and Will

That’s it,
Jim
